Springdale & Bartonsville Mill Tour – SOLD OUT

April 15, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The French & Indian War Foundation
invites you to tour
Historic Springdale & Bartonsville Mill
April 15, 2023, 1-4:00PM

Robert and Susan Claytor will open their home, Springdale, for a special tour in support of The French & Indian War Foundation. Please join us in learning the rich history of the property and its people.

The tour will include the historic Springdale home, built in 1753 by John Hite, oldest son of Joist Hite. We’ll tour the grounds, remains of Hite’s Tavern (~1735), and the historic mill, currently under restoration by owners Stacey and Anthony Rowe.

In addition to the Hite family, Springdale’s history includes the Bartons, who lived there from 1802-1873, experiencing the ravages of a civil war. Since 1893, Springdale has been in the Hack family, descendants of the VanMeter’s who sold the original land grant of 40,000 acres to Joist Hite in 1731.
