NEXT 5 YEARS

.
.
2017 City of Winchester continues border outline of Fort Loudoun’s imprint on the sidewalk and street for passers-by to see the size of the fort’s footprint.
.
2017 thru 2022 Collecting of artifacts continues. Linda Ross former President and a guiding force for the French and Indian War Foundation spearheads this drive to save the artifact, document ownership, record where found, when found.
.
.
.
2017 thru 2022 Publication of Untold Stories begins over the next 5 year span.
.

.

and so do historical societies, even the French and Indian War Foundation cannot resist this slogan.
.
THE FUTURE FURTHER ON OUT
2038 Those UNTOLD STORIES books might last longer than this web site which no longer has the same author or maintainer.
.
The cycle of amnesia, rediscovery, rebirth continues.
.
Also this is the year of old Unix systems ticking over 1 digit more on its clock like the old Y2k frenzy.
.
2070 Google Maps offers ability to click on any parcel in the developed world and show what it looked like on any given date from 1800 to the present.
.
Discoveries are made every day, so that dates before 1800 can also appear on the map as gaps continue to be filled in.
.
2076
Fort Loudoun in Winchester VA is resurrected physically in its original design, despite local protests.
Taxpayers say that cell phones can already visualize the fort without such unnecessary expense and future maintenance – not to mention the razing of old homes in the area to do this.
.
That Fort Loudoun got rebuilt on the 300th anniversary of The Separated States League (formerly the USA) is a testimony to the tenacity of those who wanted a comparison to the virtual reality world.
.
Rome NY with the help of giant senators like Jacob Javits and Robert Kennedy helped do the same thing in the 1960s reconstructing Fort Stanwix.
.
2099
Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision of the 3 Rivers area of Pittsburgh is realized. The Museum excels in Virtual Reality presentations of the battles and forts of the French and Indian War.

100 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE
2117
.
Robots take place of re-enactors, tour guides- only because they are now so life like, and affordable to Winchester City Council who has finally added history as a feature of the Recreation Department.
.
Some Robots will act as real tourists – encouraging curiosity in walkers-by.
.
Human Re-enactors really like this because
1) they are allowed to join robots and interact and
2) they like the expert knowledge of the robot
and its ability to accumulate more knowledge
and retain it and
3) the event looks a lot more robust with more attendees and
4) the mix of human and robot is a fascinating story itself
beyond the story they are there to tell.
.
2115 Competition between Virtual Reality vs “Meat Space,” vs “Books” vs “Movies” is rated by participants.
.
Books, whether online or in the archaic plastic simulated paper form, still win in the category of “gained knowledge.”
.
Virtual Reality and Meat Space win in the category of “experience.”
.
Movies win in the category of “passive appreciation.”
.
History Institute will be holding these competitions at various venues across the world and will publish these results annually.
